Privacy policy

This site uses no tracking cookies, has no Google Analytics or any third-party tool that builds a profile of you, does not sell or share personal data, and does not record your IP address when measuring page use.

If you never write to us and never subscribe to the newsletter, we store nothing that could identify you. The rest of this page explains in detail the little we do store, and why.

International Affairs Watch is an independent observatory of armed conflicts and international crises. The controller of the personal data collected on this site is the project's management, which can be reached at contacto@iawatch.org.

Once registration is complete, this page will carry the association's full legal name, tax identification number and registered address.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the language you were browsing in and the section you subscribed from. Nothing else: no name, no country, no IP address.

Contact form. Your message reaches our institutional mailbox by email. It is not stored in the site's database.

Team accounts. Team members hold an account in the internal console, with name, email, an encrypted password and, if they enable it, a second authentication factor. Accounts are created by invitation only: there is no open sign-up.

Usage measurement. We record which pages are visited, in which language, from which type of device — phone, tablet or computer — and which site the visit came from. That record contains no IP address, no user identifier and no cookie. It cannot be used to reconstruct any individual's path through the site, and that limitation is deliberate.

The newsletter address is used to send you the newsletter, and nothing else. Contact messages are used to reply to you. Team accounts run the internal console and record who edited and published what, which our own editorial policy requires. Usage measurement helps us decide what to cover and in which language.

We do no profiling, take no automated decisions about people, and use none of this for advertising, which does not exist on this site.

The public site installs no tracking cookies. We keep two preferences in your browser's local storage, which never travel to our servers: whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice, and whether you have already seen the reading guide for reports. You can clear them from your browser at any time.

The internal console, which is access-restricted, does use a session cookie and, if the person enables it, another that remembers the device for the second factor. Both are strictly technical and necessary for sign-in.

The site relies on three providers, each with access only to what it needs: Vercel, which hosts and delivers the pages; Prisma, which provides the database; and Resend, which dispatches the newsletter and internal team notifications. These services operate servers outside Argentina.

We embed no widgets, social buttons or advertising tags from third parties on any page.

Newsletter addresses, until you ask to be removed. Contact messages remain in the institutional mailbox, like any correspondence. Team accounts, for as long as the person is involved in the project; the associated audit log is kept longer, because it is what allows us to reconstruct who published what and when.

Visit records, which identify no one, are kept so that periods can be compared.

You may ask us to access, rectify, update or delete your data. To exercise any of these rights, write to contacto@iawatch.org from the address concerned, or telling us which one it is. To unsubscribe from the newsletter, asking through that same channel is enough.

Under Argentine Law No. 25.326, data subjects may exercise their right of access free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is demonstrated. The Agency for Access to Public Information, as the supervisory body for that law, handles complaints from those whose data protection rights have been affected.

If you reside in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may additionally request portability of your data and object to its processing.

The site is not directed at children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect data from people of that age. If we find that we have received a minor's data without parental authorisation, we delete it.

Passwords are stored encrypted, never in plain text, and are never sent by email under any circumstance: a new collaborator's access always goes through a single-use invitation link. Access to the internal console is limited by role-based permissions, and sensitive actions are logged.

No measure is infallible. Should a security incident affect personal data, we will notify the people concerned and the supervisory authority where required.

If we change anything substantial — what we collect, what for, or who we share it with — we will publish the new version on this page, dated, and announce it through the newsletter. Previous versions remain available on request.
